Spring Term 1
Our Quest topic this half term is Explorers!
This topic has a Geography and History focus. The children will be learning about explorers from long ago to the present day, find out about where they travelled to and why their discoveries were significant. Please have a look at our Parent Overview for more information.The trip (to enhance this topic) is to Hidden Woods where the children will be having a day of Forest School based experiences.
What children need to bring each day:
Monday: Wear P.E. kits. Reading folders.
Tuesday: Just reading folders.
Wednesday: Just reading folders.
Thursday: Wellies and waterproofs for Forest School. Reading folders.
Friday: Wear P.E. kits. Reading folders.
Children are welcome to keep their wellies at school, but we do ask that they are brought in a named bag.

Reading books:
We ask that children bring their reading folders into school every day.
Reading books will be changed on Mondays and Thursdays.
Please aim to read with your children at least 3 times a week, we are aware that this means reading the book multiple times. The first read is for understanding vocabulary/new words. The second read is for comprehension and the third read is for fluency.
Children who are on the accelerated reader programme can take a comprehension quiz as soon as they have finished reading their book. It is important that they let one of the classroom adults know they need to take a quiz.
