Classroom photos
In Quest we learned about Christopher Columbus' expedition across the Atlantic Ocean. We then looked at the points of a compass and came up with some good rhymes/phrases to remember these points. This prompted a scientific enquiry into how compasses work, and so we made our own using a magnetised needle floating in water. We used magnets to see how this affected where our compasses pointed.
In Science we were looking into the senses. We set up five experiments for the five senses. Including blind taste testing, a sensory 'feely' bag, blind instrument identification and some rather stinky jars!
In art we explored Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' painting. After a practice run we sketched the outline then painted on top. We made use of different tools to create the swirling effect and the outcomes were very impressive!
In ICT/Music we listened to Gustav Holst's music from 'The Planets'. Each piece is named after a different planet, whilst we listened we made marks in different colours and patterns to reflect the tempo and volume of the music.
