This term the children have been doing lots of art. They looked at the artists Mondrian and Monet and we talked about the different ways that they use colour.
We then went on to explore tint and how the colour changes when we add white - very gradually - which took lots of patience!
This afternoon we had a fun time, experimenting with different brushes and paints. The children enjoyed exploring acrylic inks, pointallism, using thick and thin brushes and acrylic tube paints.
Today we had the opportunity to meet a local artist called Francesca Bex - who paints abstract art based on landscapes and nature. She showed us how to use watercolour techniques such as colour mixing and adding detail with oil pastels. We practised these techniques in our sketchbooks and sorted some pictures into warm and cool colours. The morning finished off with us working in groups to make fantastical beasts. Each of us had to paint a different body part and then they were assembled to create our own beast.
