In our sketchbooks we have been experimenting with LINE and PATTERN. The children made a background by using a wash. They then had a go at using the art pencils to create different effects with lines and patterns.
This week we have been looking at a painting called Starry Night. The children described what they could see and we talked about how Van Gogh had created the feeling of movement in the sky. The children then chose whether to use watercolour pencils or oil pastels to create a 'copy' of the painting.
We continued our focus on Starry Night to create our own paintings - focusing on texture and swirls in the paint- these were made using cotton buds and forks.
