Week 2

This week we have continued to think about our school's learning behaviours and what these look like in our classroom and around the school. The children have been brilliantly demonstrating them throughout the week. Myself and Mrs Williams will continue to hand out house points to those who show their learning behaviours in school.

In Maths, we continued to recap some key skills such as times tables, number bonds and adding single-digit and two-digit numbers during our lesson starters. We moved onto our Autumn 1 focus of place value, where this week we have focussed on Roman Numerals and counting in 25s and 50s and using these to solve problems.

In English this week, the children started their text focus, "The Pebble in my Pocket" which we will continue for the next couple of weeks. The children have been exploring the variety of words used throughout the text with particular focus on adjectives, nouns and verbs and towards the end of the week, time, place and cause prepositions.

During our quest lessons this week, we have continued with our topic and have studied key scientific vocabulary focussing on Volcanoes and Tectonic Plates. Throughout the week, we have used a range of different resources to deepen our understanding of Volcanoes and Tectonic Plates. These recourses included Atlases, Chromebooks, maps and some creative models and experiments, some of which were brought in by some enthusiastic members within Goldfinch class.

Mr . Daniels again came in and taught the children PE on Tuesday afternoon. During the session, they focussed on their agility and hand-eye coordination skills through a range of fun activities such as dribbling a ball using a racket and jumping over small hurdles.

Luckily, we were able to take the class swimming on Thursday afternoon, hopefully, this won't be our last session in the pool. I have reminded the children to continue to bring in their swimming kit as it would be great to have a couple more sessions in the pool before the autumn feel really hits us.

A very busy and exciting second week back. I hope the children had a lot of rest over the weekend ready for another busy week.
