Learning Behaviours

At Bruton Primary School, our five 'Learning Behaviours' underpin our attitude to teaching and learning and are represented by the roots of a tree.

As we grow together, our curriculum is designed to ensure that all children have knowledge of the wider community and hold a respect for diversity. In partnership with our community we aim to utilise the resources around us to inspire, challenge and broaden life experience. We wish to enable all children to flourish as inspirational, independent people in an ever-changing modern world.

Whilst all pupils are encouraged to show the different Learning Behaviours as often as possible, each half-term we focus on a different Learning Behaviour as a way of exploring the type of behaviour in more depth. Each half-term starts with a 'Values Day' where the whole school spend the day exploring that term's focus value.

Learning Behaviour Displays

Our learning behaviours are on display in each classroom and form part of our behaviour policy. When children demonstrate a particular 'behaviour', they move either their name label or picture onto the behaviour poster and receive a positive reinforcement such as verbal praise or a house point.

There is also a whole school display in the hall where we continue the same approach during assemblies, PE & any other activity in that room.

The Learning Behaviour posters are displayed in other public areas as a reminder but to also share with any visitors to our school.

Activities from each term's focus on a specific Learning Behaviour, form part of our whole school display in the school lobby area.
