Creating Hundertwasser houses out of cardboard boxes! We tried to replicate his style of bright colours and wavy lines.
Dance-a-thon! Eagle class had two half an hour slots where we danced non-stop! Thank you very much to the parents who joined us for a boogie.
During Forest School we played a game of 'walk the plank' where children had an eyepatch and had to walk the plank without falling in and getting captured by sharks! To make it even more challenging they were also being tickled by feathers!
In art we have started looking at the artist Hundertwasser. We learnt about his love of nature, particularly spirals. We spent some time practicing drawing spirals as this is quite tricky! Then we moved on to create a piece of art work using crayons and water colours.
Forest School - today we discussed what an aerial view is, then had a go at making aerial view maps of our Forest School area.
An introduction to maps, we spent some time examining lots of different maps, some were very old and fragile. The children really enjoyed following the roads/rivers and working out the symbols.
A PE lesson with our coach, Mr Creed, focusing on multiskills.
We have been practicing cutting skills - a very important skill to aid fine motor and pencil control. The children made some fictional monsters.
Being responsible - Showing responsibility is one of our school's core values. To demonstrate responsibility, each child was given a little toy animal to look after. They had to make it a suitable home, feed it, clean it, and take it out for exercise. At the end of the day the children got to take their 'pets' home!
Over our first couple of days together we did a lot of team-building activities and played games so everyone got to know each other!
On our first day of school we made self portraits using wool and tissue paper.
