Summer One
Summer One: Powerful Plants
Our Quest this term is a science focused topic where the children will find out about plants. They will build on their previous knowledge about plants from KS1 to go into a more in depth look at the parts of plants and their functions. They will also be doing a DT project about designing pavilions and of course lots of reading, writing, spelling and maths. In P.E. this term, the children will be having an extra session of cricket which will be taught by a specialist teacher. Please look at our Parent Overview for a more detailed outline of what we will be covering. A paper copy of this will be sent home during the first week of term.
READING
We expect children to read at home most days. Please record reading in their reading diaries - whether they are enjoying the book, what they are finding tricky, observations that you make are really useful. In class, we aim to read with individually with each child once a week. This might be with the teacher, a parent or a TA. Once a child completes a book, they complete a quiz on Accelerated Reader which tests comprehension and vocabulary knowledge.
Our whole class reading book this term is going to be the BFG by Roald Dahl
