What a wonderful array of homework we saw today during our showcase. The children have worked so hard on their gardens, cakes and pictures. Well done Cuckoo.
Cuckoo Class Easter egg hunt!
We have been sewing Easter egg crafts. We had to use a needle and thread to stitch around the edge, add some stuffing and then decorate with gems and bows.
A lovely walk up to Bruton allotments to find out about the things that grow up there. The children also got the chance to plant their own potatoes. We will go back to check them in abut six weeks. Pictures are taken by the children themselves.
We have been recreating Yayoi Kusama's famous pumpkin picture in her signature dotty style. We used watercolour pencils to create the bold contrasting colours.
As part of British Science Week we have been identifying and labelling parts of a plant. We also dissected a broad bean seed to learn about what was inside. We then had to identify those parts of the seed.
We have been planting in our outside area!
We made puppets to help us act out and retell the story of 'The Papaya Who Spoke'.
In maths we have been learning about arrays. We have been discussing the difference between rows and columns. We made some arrays using playdough and wrote the repeated addition.
As part of our Science, we have been looking at tree identification. We went around the school and tried to identify the different types of trees within our school grounds. We then did some bark rubbing.
World Book Day! Can you guess who we are?
We have been creating story maps for the story of 'The Papaya Who Spoke'
West End in Schools came to visit us. We brought the story of 'The Wind and The Willows' to life through music, dance and drama.
We have been creating actions for our focus story 'The Papaya Who Spoke'
We have started a growing experiment this term. We have planted some Sweet Pea seeds in different conditions; one pot is without water, one pot is without soil, one pot is without warmth, one pot is without light and one pot has all the correct growing conditions. We are going to monitor them closely week by week to see what happens to them. We have all made some predictions about what we think might happen to each of the seeds.
We have been doing some observational drawings of different fruit and vegetables. We used art pencils to create light and dark areas by shading and thinking about thick and thin lines.
