Autumn One - Forces Beneath our Feet

Our Quest this half term is Geography and Science driven. The children will be learning all about fossils, rocks, soils and volcanos. Please see the Parent Overview for more detailed information about what we will be covering. A highlight of the Quest topic will be a visit to the Earth Science Centre. 

HOMEWORK

READING

  Ideally children should read EVERYDAY, but at least three times a week - and at least one of those times with an adult. In Years Three and Four most children will follow the Accelerated Reader Scheme where they do a quiz to assess their level and then they get given a range of books to read. Each time they do a quiz which tests their comprehension and vocabulary knowledge. When they have been successful in three quizzes they move up a point. Mrs Williams will be checking each week to ensure that lots of reading is being done.

QUEST

A piece of Quest homework is set for each half term. The expectation is that time is taken over these and that the children show pride in their work. It is for the children to do - with a little help from their adults !! Once the homework is completed it is shared with the class and they receive a certificate. 

SPELLING

Weekly spellings are set for each year group. The children work on the spellings during class time but we also hope they are being practised at home. This can be done on paper or on Ed Shed - logins will be in their reading diaries. There will NOT be a weekly spelling test.
