Autumn Term 1 : We follow a PSHE programme called ‘Connect’ and our youngest children spent Autumn Term 1 getting to know the characters D (Discoverer) N (Noticer) and A (Advisor). DNA makes us who we are and in the same way these characters help our children understand how we are all unique and have different strengths. The children learn to understand how the Discoverer in us can help us be adventurous and open to trying new experiences, the Noticer within us uses all our senses to appreciate everything around us and the Advisor within us is the part that helps to keep us safe and guide us to make good choices.

In Autumn 2 EYFS used the Connect programme to think about how to keep healthy and look after our bodies.

Spring Term 1 is ‘Give To Others’ when the children understand how important it I’d to be kind and ‘giving’ to others. They think about all the things they already do to help their family, their friends and the world around them.

KS1 In the Autumn Term focused on Exercise and how to keep ourselves fit and healthy. We noticed how exercise can affect our bodies. We explored different types of exercise, understanding that it can include everything from relaxing yoga to more aerobic activities.

Years Two, Five and Six took part in an assembly led by the NSPCC where the focus was on sharing/ telling someone when you are worried about something. The older children learned about different types of abuse and what secrets are ok to keep and which should not be. They learned how to contact Childline and how to recognise the signs .

In Years Five and Six, as part of the unit on KINDNESS- the children though of different reasons why people might need charities to support them and what social aspects would cause this. They worked in groups to research a charity and to find out how they supported their cause. The children then made a presentation to the rest of the class about why this charity was important to them and what they did.

We have been learning about EXERCISE and how it impacts on both our body's and mind's. In Year Four, we worked collaboratively, to design and participate in our own games.

As part of our Kindness Unit, Years Five and six we all selected a name from a basket and wrote a kind/ positive letter to that person. These names were children in the year group. These letters were really thoughtful and appreciated.
