In Dove class we sketched pumpkins in the style of Yayoi Kusama. We created multimedia pieces using our work.

In Cuckoo we have been recreating Yayoi Kusama's famous pumpkin picture in her signature dotty style. We used watercolour pencils to create the bold contrasting colours.

Kingfisher enjoyed our collagraph printing using Ancient Greek architecture as our inspiration.

The theme of our Spring Art (in Years Three and Four) was on botanical drawings. We learned about shading and tone and then used these skills to create our own fantastical botanical drawings.

Years Three/Four have been focusing about the artist HenrI Matisse. Especially his cut-outs that he created later in life. They used his work as inspiration to create their own collage and ink vases of flowers which they are going to give to their mum's for Mothering Sunday.

Years Three and Four visited Bo Lee and Workman art gallery to look at the work of Adeline de Monseignat - who creates sculptures from Stones. This linked well with our topic on Rocks and we made our own collages in response to her work.

Cuckoo Class have been doing some observational drawings of different fruit and vegetables. We used art pencils to create light and dark areas by shading and thinking about thick and thin lines.

Cuckoo Class have been focusing on the artist DY Begay. We have studied her work and discussed the earthy colours she used to complete her weaving. We then had a go at creating our our sun weavings. We had to weave the wool around the cardboard and then weave some sun rays through the wool. Look at some of our wonderful creations!

LKS2 had a visit from Magic Lantern Workshops (who focus on Art History in Primary Schools). The focus was on Forces and Motion (which linked to their Quest) and the children noticed lots of movement in paintings throughout time - from boats being rowed in the 1600s to abstract American paintings referencing rockets. Lots of wonderful observations and discussions were had.

Reception made some drip paint art, inspired by Jackson Pollock's work.

Evan created a beautiful collage inspired by the fishpond at The Newt - he tore up images from old children's books and then stuck them down to create a bright and colourful collage.

The whole school has visited Hauser and Wirth to see and respond to the Nikki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely exhibition. They took part in lots of drawing activities and learned about where these artists took their inspiration and how they worked collaboratively together. Each class followed up on their experience by creating artists pages in their sketch books.

Year One took part in the Big Draw Festival at Hauser and Wirth. They explored the current exhibition and responded it with both drawings and writing based on their emotions.
