Art

In our art lessons this half term, the children have been taking part in a unit based on prehistoric art. They have looked at the cave paintings in France and talked about the images and colours used. They then went on to sketch British wildlife - keeping their drawings really simple. They gathered plants and mud in the forest school to create their own natural pigments and also tested out how adding spices such as tumeric and cayenne pepper - added to flour and water- can create some strong colours. For their final piece, the children created a rock-like texture to resemble the inside of a cave. They used cous cous, sand and lentils to make this. Once dried they painted it in natural colours. Finally the children painted their British animal on top of their 'cave' surface. I think they look very convincing !
