A special visitor came today and gave the children some gifts.

We had a zoom call from Firefighter Williams (Mrs Hambleton's brother) from the Essex Fire Service. He showed us some pictures of him at work and spoke to us about what it is like being a firefighter. The children were able to ask him questions and came up with some really interesting ones, such as 'How do you power the equipment?' and ''How many calls do you get in a day?'.

In maths we have been looking at one more than and one less then . We worked in our Year one/two partners to choose a 2-digit number, then work out what is one more and one less than that number.

In Maths we have been looking at place value within 100. We have been partitioning 2-digit numbers into tens and ones using Base 10 blocks.

We had a wonderful, exciting and creative afternoon on Tuesday. We invited our special grown ups into school and asked them to help us build Tudor houses. The plan is to recreate The Great Fire of London with these houses on our playground. The children loved sharing their ideas and their classroom with you all, and it would seem some of the grown ups have a bit of a talent for making Tudor houses! Thank you to all of you who made it for the afternoon, I hope you had as much fun as the children did.

This week we have been History Detectives. We had to answer a when, where and why question about how The Great Fire of London started. The clues were around the classroom and we had to use our detective skills to work out the answers.

The Year 2 children enjoyed a fab morning out at Hauser and Wirth to see their latest exhibition. Although the highlight for some was Miss Larcombe driving the minibus!

As part of our 'Being Creative' afternoon, the children produced some work based on the artist Roy Lichtenstein. We looked at his pop art style and tried to recreate it using bubble wrap to print with.
