This week in Dove Class we are looking at Remembrance. We are going to focusing on what this means and how we can show our respect during this special time. Today we made poppies out of clay. We spoke about why the poppy is a symbol of remembrance. The children had to manipulate the clay to mould and sculpt their poppies.
We completed the poppies by painting them red and black and then joined them together to make a collaborative piece of art work as a Remembrance Wreath. In their Quest books the children wrote about what they are remembering and why soldiers wear medals. ,
The children used up the excess red and black paint and created their own responses to Remembrance Day. What beautiful paintings they created and all different. Some of the children experimented with finger painting and others chose to use brushes.
In phonics today the children have been revisiting the -ir sound. The children loved the sandtimer game where they have to write the word as many times as they can in a minute. The top score was 23. I wonder if who will beat it tomorrow?
In PSHE we have been looking at self-care. This week have been doing some mindfulness tuning into our 5 senses. We did this using raisins and chocolate.
In music, we have been learning to play the Glockenspiel.
