Week Seven

This week, in maths, we have been learning all about time. The children have learned to tell time to: o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. They have begun to learn five minute intervals too. Each day two children are chosen to be the time keepers. They wear the class watches for the day and let us know what time it is.

The children have been learning about the Native American artist - John Nieto. He paintings are incredibly vibrant and they are mainly of animals. The children started to learn about colour mixing.

They then created their own art based on John Nieto. The animals were sketched using oil pastels and the backgrounds were created using paint. They are so impressive!

This week was Quest - Show and Review. What amazing homework - every piece really individual and lots of time spent at home doing them. It is lovely to see the learning we are doing at school being re-enforced at home.

We had a lovely time in the forest school area this afternoon. The weather was kind to us and we managed to make our bird feeding stations. The focus of this was to work together to create a common goal. The children had to use string to tie 2 sticks together in a cross shape, then coat their cardboard tube in honey, and roll in seeds and crushed Cheerios. They then had to attach it to their cross shape and create a loop with the string to hang it from the trees. It was quite tricky, but the children found when they worked together it was easier to achieve. We are looking forward to seeing if any of the birds have eaten our food when we come back to school.
