Week One

In PE we have started a block on Gymnastics. The children showed excellent team work, balance and concentration when they had to mirror their partner/ group leader to create a simple routine.

In maths we have been starting to learn about division. The children were set the challenging of sharing the jelly beans into equal groups.

In English we have started our new story - Jack and the Flum Flum Tree. The children investigated what was in the patchwork sack to find out more about the story. They played a memory game and then write a list of everything that was in the sack.

We started our new Quest today - EXPLORERS. The children discussed what they thought an Explorer was and what qualities were needed. They then looked at photographs and paintings of Explorers - both new and old - and wrote down the questions that they would like to ask them. We hope to find out to the answers to these questions during our Quest.

Today we made puppets of the characters from Jack and the Flum-Flum Tree. We had to work in groups to create the puppets and retell the story using them. Some of the children worked with Miss Evans to create a 3D model of the red boat from the story.

This term, the whole school will be participating in 'The Daily Mile'. Three times a week, the children will be running 5 laps around our track. We are going to add the number of miles ran together to see which destination we have run to. At the moment we are heading for Edinburugh!
