We were lucky enough to have Mr Harkness (Sowena's dad) come to our class to do a printing masterclass with us. This was the first time that the children had used printing inks and rollers. Lots of new techniques and skills learned. They practised making marks in the ink before creating their final piece - based on the work of the print maker Angie Lewin. Lots of inky tables but the classroom is all back to normal now!
The final prints ! What creative and skilled artists we have in Dove Class. We are going to enjoy them in the classroom for a few weeks and then they will come home for you to keep.
This week the children have been completing their Design Technology project which was to produce an Easter Decoration. The children all learned the skills of using running stitch to attach felt and also how to follow a template. Their were lots of dropped needles and lost threads but all the children persevered to create a beautiful decoration to take home.
We enjoyed getting the big apparatus out in PE this week. The children had to climb, jump and balance showing control and spatial awareness.
What a wonderful Easter bonnet parade we had this morning. A huge well done to all those children and their efforts, we had some truly spectacular Easter bonnets and it was a lovely sight to see all of KS1 parading around the field wearing them.
Fractions picnic - we had a picnic this morning in maths, to help us learn about quarters. The children had to work on groups of 4 to work out how much 1 quarter of an amount is. The children enjoyed eating the food afterwards!
