This week we started a new book entitled Greta and the Giants - based on Greta Thunberg. One of the ways that we help the children to learn the story is by using actions to retell it. What great ideas the children had - I am so impressed with how quickly they are learning it and getting to know the themes and characters.
We then looked at the characters and thought of adjectives to describe Greta, the wolf and the giants. I was so impressed with the children's story maps. These are a way of creating a visual reminder of the story. The children drew simple pictures along a 'story road' remembering to use punctuation. They then used their maps to help them re-tell the story of Greta and the Giants to their partner.
In our Quest -My Community - we had a walk around Bruton where the children spotted physical and human features of Bruton. What a lot they spotted and recorded as we went on our walk.
