World Book Day 2022 - the children in Hawk class came to share books with us!

Explorers day 01.02.22 - Today we took a trip to the Antarctic. We made sure our tickets and passports were ready to go before boarding the plane for our flight. When we arrived at the South Pole we put on our cold weather gear before making shelters, cooking food on the fire and rescuing animals who had been trapped in the ice. We all had a great day!

To begin our new quest topic we compared Bruton and The South Pole

Baking bread! We were very lucky to be visited by Kim and Tom from the Chapel. They helped us to make bread rolls. We mixed the dough, kneaded the dough and then shaped it into tasty creatures. The children had a brilliant morning and the bread tasted delicious!

Responsibility afternoon - this half term we thought about what it means to be responsible. To tie this in with our quest we looked after a chicken. We thought about what she might need and how we could keep her happy and safe.

On Tuesday 9th November we went to Somerset Rural Life Museum. We discovered all about what life was like on a farm in the past. We did some flailing and ground the grains into flour. We also made our own butter!

In music we have been learning to play notes on the glockenspiel with Mrs Davis

Harvest 2021

In our gymnastics lessons we have been focusing on different body shapes. Here you can see the children in a straddle and tuck position.

Science - as part of our quest learning this half term we have been looking at the human body. We started off talking about the names of our body parts and discussed what they are used for. Since then we have deepened our learning by looking more closely at how our bodies work and what goes on inside our bodies. The children really enjoyed learning about our skeletons and we held some bones and looked at some x-rays!

Talk for writing - This half term we are learning the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. On Monday we heard some strange noises coming form one of the classrooms. We went to investigate and using our knowledge of stories, based on the clues we found, we decided we had had a visit form Goldilocks herself!

Back to school maths! Lots of counting and making numbers!
