Our focus text, for the first two weeks is Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers. This wonderful story celebrates diversity and the need to care for our environment. The children will be using this story to base their writing around; creating a class book and writing their own poems based on the story.
We created a super book about Our World
Our class story this half term is going to be The Twits by Roald Dahl. We have already started reading it and the children are enthralled! We have several copies of the book which means that the children can follow along as we read. As the book is read we are asking the children comprehension questions and instilling a love for books. Several children have read it at home or have audio books - this is great - one child has even memorised large chunks of the story!
Our focus story for Weeks 3-5 is: The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. This is an alternative version of the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. We hope the children will love this humorous tale. We will be following the Talk For Writing program (which the children are familiar with from Year One) where they tell the story with actions, make a story map and then invent their own story based on the text. We can't wait to see what they come up with!
We went outside to act out the story
Talk for Writing - the children created actions to help them to learn the story
We made individual zig zag books changing the story and adding new characters
The children did some wonderful diary writing based around the story by Fluella Benjamin that we read during Black History Week
